Movie Night Detour

It was movie night in Antwerp. Me and the girls decided to arrive early, walk around, and stop at a café before the film. Two options on the table: a pink café or a cat café.

I'd been to a cat café in Mechelen before and absolutely loved it, so I already had high expectations. I gave my friends the choice, they didn't disappoint. Cat café it was.

17 minutes from the train station according to my Apple Watch. Cute from the outside.

Inside

Small space, maybe 6 or 7 tables, a lot of pink everywhere, but in a nice way. The seating wasn't the most comfortable, but honestly, we weren't there for the chairs.

At the time of our visit there were only 3 cats: 2 black ones and an orange and white one. That's how I tell them apart.

The Catch

We arrived about 30 minutes before closing, which meant no food. We could only order drinks. I got the pink chai latte, loved it. Sweet, warm, exactly my kind of thing (I worked in a café myself, so I have a soft spot for a good chai).

One thing that surprised me: the food on other tables wasn't covered. At the Mechelen cat café, all food and drinks were covered to stop the cats from getting into them, which matters, because some things aren't good for cats. Here, nothing was covered. Maybe it's different here, or maybe I just need to visit more cat cafés to understand the standards. I'm clearly not an expert.

Verdict

A short visit with too little time to form a full opinion, but the rating still lands at 3 stars. I think I was waiting for more.

The chai latte was great. The cats were happy. I just wish we'd had more time, and maybe a snack.
